BIG FLAG RAISED IN BURKEVILLE

The smallest town in Nottoway is now home of the largest American flag waving in this county.

In a Memorial Day ceremony in Burkeville, members of Crewe VFW Post and Crewe American Legion helped Consdan International hoist its 30-ft. by 60-ft. version of Old Glory that would’ve made Betsy Ross proud.

Located on Second Street NE, the plant is known formerly as Burkeville Veneer.

“Just because we’re a small town doesn’t mean we don’t have huge hearts, values, and appreciation for all the veterans that afford us the opportunity to be free,” Consdan’s Sr. Vice President, Leslie Quig told the Courier-Record this week. “Huge flags aren’t just for big car dealerships and towns -- but us, too!”
